Starting July 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019, create and enter your underage alcohol and marijuana use prevention video on Instagram for a chance to win up to $500 and to have your video featured as part of the Be Bothered Movement. See full contest rules here.
Contest limited to youth ages 13-20 who are residents of Sacramento County, California, USA.

How to enter:

Before you begin, complete and submit the contest entry form.

Follow our Instagram page @_bebothered.

If your Instagram account is set to private, accept the follow request from @_bebothered.

Create a 30-40 second video that you think will stop or prevent youth under the age of 21 from drinking alcohol or using marijuana. What would change your mind about drinking?

Post your video to Instagram. Tag @_bebothered and use the hashtag #bebotheredmovement. Tag TWO other friends.
All of the above MUST be completed by 11:59 PST on July 31, 2019.

What is prevention?
Stopping something before it happens. In this case, we want to support youth to not drink alcohol or use marijuana too early, too much, or too often.
What is underage drinking?
In the state of California, drinking any amount of alcohol under the age of 21.
What is underage marijuana use?
In the state of California, using any amount of marijuana or THC in any form under the age of 21.
Why should I be bothered?
Underage drinking and marijuana use are big problems in Sacramento County. See more information here.
How many winners will there be?
There will be 4 winners; first and second place in the 13‐15 age group and first and second place in the 16‐20 age group.
How will the contest winners be chosen?
Youth and adult advocates who are members of the Be Bothered Movement will review the videos in August and announce winners by Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Winners will be chosen based on: clearly showing how drinking or using marijuana under the age of 21 is harmful and/or how youth can be supported in making healthy choices.
