What We Do
Be Bothered is a youth-driven movement in Sacramento County focused on preventing underage alcohol and marijuana use while promoting mental health, leadership, and community connection.
Our work centers around school and community-based partnerships, including our Be Bothered high school club at John F. Kennedy High School. Through the club, youth engage in conversations about real-life challenges, build leadership skills, and take part in activities that promote healthy choices and positive peer influence.
Participants have opportunities to:

Our Mission & History
Mission Statement: Be Bothered is dedicated to reshaping our community's approach to underage alcohol and marijuana use. We strive to create a safe and substance-free environment for youth in Sacramento County by educating and advocating for change.
History: The Be Bothered Movement was started in 2018 by local youth and caring adults who were concerned (“bothered”) about underage alcohol and drug use in Sacramento County.
Staffing and coordination for Be Bothered is provided by Center for Collaborative Planning, Public Health Institute. This program is funded by Sacramento County Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Services.
